Looking for more games like Wordle? The free daily word puzzle is really popular, and many of us have made it a habit to do it every day. The main drawback to Wordle is that you can only play it once each day, which may lead you to look for other games with a similar feel.
Fortunately, Wordle has not only delighted fans, but it has also inspired a slew of game developers to create their own variations on the winning model. There are a plethora of daily puzzle games available today that use letters, numbers, sounds, and even pictures to test your ability to guess the answer. Not every game like Wordle is worth your time, but there are a few real gems among the hundreds that have arisen in the last few months that you should definitely check out.
Best Wordle-like games
The greatest games similar to Wordle that we’ve played are listed here. Some, like Wordle, are only available once a day, while others can be played as much as you wish. There’s even one where you can play with other people in real time.
Games like Wordle: Quordle
Wordle allows you to guess a single word six times, but Quordle allows you to guess four words nine times. Because each guess you make appears in all four puzzles, focusing on a particular word means you’re still using up your guesses in the others. It’s undoubtedly difficult, but if you enjoy Wordle, this will provide you with a larger and more difficult dosage of the same daily gameplay.
Games like Wordle: Nerdle
Nerdle is the place to be if you like numbers, not words or letters. Each day, you try to predict a new computation utilizing numbers and procedures. Wordle’s rules still apply: green indicates that a number or operation occurs in the correct location; magenta indicates that it appears in the puzzle but in the incorrect location; and black indicates that it does not appear at all.
It’s also worth noting that, similar to Wordle, it’s not just about solving math problems but also about using clues. The = in the seventh position, for example, indicates that the answer is only a single number, which is a tremendous help in limiting the options. Even though I’m terrible at arithmetic, solving a problem in Nerdle is still a lot of fun.
Games like Wordle: Worldle
You are provided with the shape of a country in Worldle and must estimate which one it is. Each guess you make indicates how near your guess is to the correct answer in kilometers and in which direction the correct answer is from the country you picked, allowing you to narrow down your next guess. It’s an excellent refresher lesson on nation shapes, names, and locations for those of us who haven’t taken geography in a few decades, plus it has a handy autocomplete tool, so you don’t have to know how to spell Liechtenstein properly to identify it.
Games like Wordle: Waffle
Waffle provides you with a grid that already contains all of the letters, but most of them are in the incorrect locations. You have six different words to solve: three across and three down. You drag-and-drop letters instead of typing them. Green letters are already in the right places, whereas yellow letters are part of the word but in the wrong place (though yellow might indicate it’s in the right row or column at an intersection).
It’s like putting together a small crossword puzzle out of a jumble of letters. And there are various levels of success: You have 15 swaps overall, but each Waffle can be solved in under 10 minutes. So, when you drag a letter to a new location, be sure it’s the best move and that the letter you’re swapping it for will likewise end up in the proper spot.
Games like Wordle: Heardle
This one is for the music fans. Heardle provides you with six guesses to identify a song, the first of which is based on a one-second sound clip of the intro. That concludes our discussion. If you guess incorrectly, you’ll get a couple of extra seconds. It’s incredibly satisfying to properly identify a song with only one guess, but it’s also entertaining when it takes a while to figure out what song it is. If you think you know the performer but can’t remember the song, an auto-fill function might help you narrow it down.
Games like Wordle: Framed
Guess which film it is by starting with a single frame from it. If you guess incorrectly, you are given another frame, giving you a total of six guesses. Framed is Wordle for cinema enthusiasts, and it’s one of the few Wordle-like games that doesn’t include a ‘le’ somewhere in its name, which is nice. Because of the autocomplete feature, you can still win if you know some of the film’s titles.
Games like Wordle: Dungleon
There are no letters here, only a blank grid that represents a dungeon. What awaits you in the dungeon? Heroes, monsters, and treasure are all represented by cute little symbols that you click to select instead of letters.
At first glance, it appears to be a guessing game, but there are certain explicit restrictions (each dungeon must include at least one hero and one monster) as well as a number of hidden rules that players have been gradually revealing. Some rules even subvert other rules, which adds to the fun. When you add in some magic spells, Dungleon becomes a fun daily puzzle full of mysteries that you gradually learn over time.
Games like Wordle: Squareword
With 15 guesses, you’ll have to solve 10 words, which appears to be a difficult task. However, because the words in Squareword flow both across and down, each letter you correctly position will appear in many words. Another big aid is a column on the right that displays which letters you guessed were in the wrong place, which will help you narrow down your guesses. It takes a few tries to get the hang of it, but once you do, Squareword becomes a fun daily challenge.
Games like Wordle: Squabble
Wordle is already multiplayer in the sense that everyone is using it. Squabble, on the other hand, is a true multiplayer battle royale game. Get ready for a fast-paced game of Wordle by jumping into a game with random people or inviting your pals with a lobby code.
Each wrong guess depletes your health, whilst a correct guess restores it. As you predict words as soon as possible, you may see your opponents’ progress, adding to the stress. Players that lose all of their health are eliminated, and the winner is the last one standing. There’s a Blitz mode for two to five players and a Royale mode for up to 99.
